What is ZapMeTo?
This is a URL redirection service. A short web address (URL) is provided to you that can be used as an alias to another web address that is excessively long or impossible to remember.

Sometimes long URLs get corrupted in e-mails or forum posts.  Shortening the URL solves these problems.

It's free and anonymous.

How do I use it?
To use our service, simply enter the long URL you want to redirect to and click Zap! A shorter URL will be generated for you that you can use just about anywhere. Be sure to copy the redirected URL when it appears.

If you want to name your shorter URL, enter a name in the box below the URL.  Nonspace characters only! If it is not already in use, your redirected URL will use that name.

You can either use our anonymous guest URL redirection or choose to become a member. Member's URLs do not expire.

Is registration required?
No, you do not have to register to use our service. However, using the service as a guest does not allow you to delete URL's. You must register to use these features. Either way, it's free and anonymous.

What are the advantages to joining?
As a member, your URLs do not expire. You can also edit or delete your URLs. Read our Terms of Service. We will not send you spam. We hate it as much as you do.

How long will you keep my URL?
We keep non-member URLs at least 60 days. If you need it longer, join or recreate it. Member redirected URLs are permanent as long as you are a member.

What kinds of URL's will you accept?
We'll redirect any almost URL except for adult and illegal destinations. Anything illegal in nature will be deleted and your IP address will be logged. You should strip any session information from your long URLs as this may result in unexpected behavior.

Can I choose the short URL?
Yes. Simply enter any name in the box below the URL.  Do not uses spaces or odd characters.

How do I use the favelet?
With your mouse on the favelet link, hold the left button down and drag your mouse onto your Favorites or Bookmarks menu and release the button.  It will be saved as a Favorite or Bookmark.  When visiting a website that you want a shorter URL for, simply click on your new ZapMeTo favorite.  A new window will open showing your new shorter URL.  If you were previously logged in as member, the short URL will be added to your member account so you can editor delete it later.  Only random names can be used with the favelet.  If you want to name the shorter URL, you need to enter it by copy and paste.

What does URL stand for?
Universal Resource Locator. It is the address you normally see in the form http://www.somesite.com.

Can I redirect IP addresses?
Yes. As long at is a valid URL.
